St Anne's Challenge Updates

THe headteacher writes: "At the end of Collective Worship every Monday I set a small challenge linked to the theme of the week. Children are asked to go and find out the answer and tell me at the school gate the next morning, in return they earn 2 House Points. Instead of one of these challenges being presented, last week I set a Lent Challenge. I asked children to sign up for reading a part of the New Testament so that across the entire school we were able to read the whole of it before Easter. I'm very pleased to say that 41 children volunteered to take part. They have now been assigned a part of the New Testament to read and have been asked to read it whilst at school or at home. Having completed their section they have been asked to reflect on something they have learnt or that made them think. I will share the responses I receive in subsequent weeks."

Update on 22nd March:

The children are now beginning to complete their particular challenge and bit by bit the New Testament is read. Once children have read their assigned chapters they have been reflecting on what they have learnt or what has made them think. Here are a few examples:

Gwilym read Philemon and said: “You should give away your most precious things to people in need”.

Rosie read chapters from Mark and said: “I was worried that Jesus had to have the crown of thorns on his head”.

Charlotte read 1 Timothy and said: “I learnt that Christ came down to save sinners”.

Alexandra read chapters from Acts and said: “In Chapter 10 Simon thought that he could buy the Spirit of God. By the end of the chapter, he had learned that no amount of money could buy it. If you really believe it was given to you”.
