Bury Challenge Updates

Week Six - Gold

We have finished this week by having Assemblies led by our vicar and also by Light and Life. We have learnt at least one new song and have reflected on our journey through Lent so far. The children have been challenged to continue next week in thinking about how they might celebrate Easter and in remembering to look after others during the holidays.

Week Five - Gold

This week we were very lucky as Bishop David led a whole school Assembly where he told the story of the Good Samaritan through drama. He reminded us that our neighbour is whoever we are thinking about, anywhere in the world. As part of this the whole school dressed up in sports clothes and we raised £185 for Sport Relief and the money will go towards helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Week Four – Gold

We had a successful week where the classes were busy making cards for Mothers Day. Jeremy Summerell led a whole school Assembly about working with members of our school abroad and Year 6 led the final Assembly of the week to which their families were invited.

Week Three – Silver

The Eco Council took a lead this week on helping to clean up the school grounds with regular litter picks. We also had a whole school Assembly led by the Great Fen Project about all the work that they are doing and how the children can be involved.

Week Two - Gold

Another busy week at Bury where all classes joined together for different activities in order to ‘get to know each other better’. Our Y5 class went to the local pre-school to share stories and Y1 and Y2 learnt playground games and songs with each other.

Week One - Silver

The whole school worked together during Collective Worship this week as we discussed the meaning of Lent. Children from each class wrote down what they might give up and one class talked about Ash Wednesday and marked crosses on their foreheads.

The display in the hall will build each week and will celebrate what we are doing as a school to mark Lent.
