St Martin at Shouldham Challenge Updates
Week Six - Gold
Here is our whole school Easter service. Every child has learnt the music or words for a new Easter hymn which we shared with our wider school community at our service in school.

Week Five - Gold
St Martin has attempted the REMEMBER YOUR FAMILIES challenge this week. Most classes have been enjoying learning about Ely cathedral from Jan and an invitation has been sent to local church folk to our Easter service next week. Some classes have sent out invitation to our families to the Easter Fayre and others have completed their work about mothers. Two examples from Reception class are shown below

Week Four - Gold
St Martin at Shouldham chose REMEMBER THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT as their challenge this week. (Week beginning 12th March 2012) The Researchers' class (Year5/6)prepared a challenging presentation for the whole school about waste in our lunch boxes, recycling and care of our world and its resources. They will also present this to councillors next week. The Power Point, drama, singing and facts gave something for all the school to think about. All the other classes have been tidying the outside areas around their classrooms, planting seeds and feeding birds.

Week Three - Gold
We went out of sequence with the challenges and did REMEMBER OUR WORLD.. Every child in the school has listened to talk from a parent involved with promoting Fair Trade fruit to the large supermarket chains. She brought an intereseting Power point of what the fairtrade producers she has contact with do with their community money. We saw the money being spent on education, resources and medical facilities. The whole school had delicious fruit samples to try. As we are promoting Fairtrade fortnight we also arranged a whole school Baking Competition with prizes for the best cakes and the use of the most fairtrade ingredients. One of our photographs shows the children's work. We continued our link with our school governors by asking them to judge the competition. We then invited parents and friends to a BIG BREW tea party in the afternoon where they could relaxed, drink fairtrade tea of coffee, buy from the fairtrade stall and sample the cakes. There were many donations of money but we haven't yet decided on the use as we have just completed our massive fund raising for a Vellore school (which merits a gold!!!) On our school REFLECTIONS display we have a prayer tree and the children have been encouraged to listen to problems in our world that need our prayers. Some have stuck post-its on the tree. Two of our classess have written letters about our activities to a family who moved abroad last July.

Week Two - Gold
Every child in the school has had a shared reading session on WORLD BOOK DAY...some photographs are attached. We all dressed up so don't be shocked by the lack of school uniform. Every class visited another class with a book to share with another child. We also shared our fantastic costumes with Shouldham by parading around the village green!
Also, we also tried to sit next to somebody different each lunch time.
Three of our school governors attended a worship time.
