All Saints March, Challenge Updates

Week Six - Gold

For our last challenge, Preparing for Easter, we are having a Pre-Easter celebration today (27.3.12) with Revd Paul Foster, and learning new songs for an Easter Celebration Service with parents/carers on 17.4.12.

Deacon Martin Wells will be leading our annual Stations of the Cross service on 30.3.12.

To keep everyone busy over the holidays, we will be having an ‘Easter Egg Challenge’. The children will be creating an egg with an Olympic 2012 Theme. The eggs will be judged at the Easter Celebration Service.

Week Five - Gold

All Saints have been remembering Our World for the Lent Challenge by remembering our pets. A working party of 10 children planned a Bless the Pets Service which was presided over by Revd Jenny Webb, and attended by Fr Philip Sainter. About 40 pets with their owners attended. Children who could not bring their pets held pictures or cuddly toys to represent them at the blessing. Most children did this.

As a follow up, staff from Wood Green came to give a talk to the whole school about keeping pets, and ran workshops for KS2.

We continue to have ‘No Snack’ days for the Red Cross. Last week, Red Cross representatives came to Collective Worship to tell us about the plight of child refugees. Again, workshops were run, and all the school were involved in some way.

We are also beginning to develop our  relationship with our Global Gateway Link School in Pakistan. On 30.4.12, school leaders from the Roots School System will be spending time at All Saints.

Reptiles Came To All Saints School!

On Wednesday 7th March some gorgeous reptiles came to our school! It was brilliant! Mrs Beeson held a snake and she loved it, we all had so much fun looking at all the reptiles. And they were kindly bought in by Matt Willis and he keeps them in his house!

We saw a couple of snakes a tarantula and a huge Lizard!

This is a picture of Mrs Beesonadmiring the snake.

We really enjoyed looking at the reptiles and we hope they come again!

Mothering Sunday

A group of children were asked to redesign the mothers day service, so we met up with some teachers and discussed our ideas. Eventually Mrs. Baumber asked Archie Patterson and Anja Pritchard to put most of our ideas into the new mothers day order of service. We came up with ideas for something for each class to perform to say  thank you for our families and chose a new song to sing – which the hole school loved!. We came up with another idea. What if we made some laminated cards with a mothers day poem on? So Archie Patterson designed some cards and he did a great job (along with a little help from Anja Pritchard). He printed 160 laminated cards. These will be kindly given to each lady attending our service. ; with love from All Saints.

Shrove Tuesday

On Shrove Tuesday we had pancake races. The whole school enjoyed racing outside after tossing the pancakes. Even the staff joined in.

Year 4 made the stickers(as always) to celebrate our achievements.
